On July 20, children from the Rainbow campus, where 6-14 year kids from disadvantage families take a rest, made a tour to the facilities of Salym Petroleum Development at Salym fields. The Company has been sponsoring this child-care centre for seven years. For the majority of children the tour to the oilfield became one of the most informative and exciting summer events.
Being accompanied by campus manager and educators, the group got under headway by the SPD bus. Before a departure the bus’s driver Sergey Basanets told children about the rules of behavior in transport. On arrival at the oilfield territory, Veronika Mudretsova, SPD HSSE Assistant, briefed the children on SPD safety policy, showed the movie about the company’s activity and informed them about the main rules, one should always bear in mind, doing any activity in the field. Several points, devoted to safe behavior during unexpected encounter with a bear or another wild animal sparked off particular interest as well as numerous questions. After a theoretical part of this event Veronika made to the children an excursion in company’s offices, accommodation camps with recreation-rooms for the staff. She also showed them SPD clinic at Base Camp, where medical specialists Alexander Sokolov and Vera Kazamkina told the young visitors about SPD staff permit to work. The kids visited a canteen, laundry as well as billard-room and gym. In the gym the children were allowed to try out cinder, cambered, chinning bars and other weight-lifting machines. Finally, they took a trip to the well pad. Fyodor Chevdar, Site Supervisor Camp Infrastructure Services, narrated the group about oilmen work, leisure and daily round.
The children’s tour to the Salym oilfields traditionally winded up with a pleasant surprise: Sodexo-Eurasia’s employees arranged a tea-party with a marvelous pie and other sweet things.
